Jaislmer is one of the last cities of India on the western front. Flanked by the Thar Desert on the west, the scorching heat and the dry spell somehow belie the glamour of this city. But every winter the city wakes from its long summer hibernation and with vengeance the city celebrates the cooler season. The celebration goes late into midnight. The city fills up with color and music. Desert festival in Jaisalmer is celebrated each year in February and it exhibits Desert life and their love for camels. The 4-5 leaves you with enough of camel shows and traditional attires. Folk musicians and performers also make the most of this event. In fact Jaisalmer has a good breed of folk singers.


Jaisalmer is a small city built around Jaisal fort, which is one of the only few living fort in India. Jaisal Fort is an amazing place that has a mix of both old world charm and new age glamour. Cyber cafes or Coffee shops built in 12th century Fort is like travelling on a time machine to and fro. Jaisalmer is also called the Golden City because of its golden hue especially in sunset.


Best time to visit: November- February. But nothing can come close to the glory and gaiety of Desert Festival.

- Having dinner at one of the rooftop restaurant in Jaisal Fort.
- Sam sand dune is just 40 km away from Jaisalmer. Camel riding is expensive but it is an unforgettable experience.

Kufri

When a Stretch of potato cultivated land turns white in winter with snow it is no more good for cultivation. Instead it is time to change business. That’s what Kufri is. It is one of the most popular ski tracks in India. Located just 13 km from Shimla, it remained obsolete until the British discovered in 1819. Apart from skiing, Kulfri has a Himalayan wildlife Zoo which is home to some rare antelopes, Himalayan Monal (State bird of Himachal) and many other animals. Treking to Mahasu Peak the highest peak in Kufri is another event for adventurers.


Best Time to visit: December and February for Skiing and September-October for more pleasant view and stay.

Beaches of Goa

Goa is India’s smallest City in terms of area but it has a lot to offer in terms of scenic beauty. It has some of the best beaches in India. Nainital in winter is chilly and the town sees snow falls sometimes. It is the right place for people with hermit like temperament; for those who wish to escape the chaos of city life. Sight of snow capped mountains or roofs can make one’s Christmas more vibrant and memorable.
