The underestimated beauty of Jharkhand is like a fresh breathe of air to tourists who explore this region.  The state is in no mood to disappoint its visitors who get to see dense forests, refreshing streams and waterfalls, gigantic hills and valleys that spell magic with their beauty. Baidyanath Temple:

A visit to the Baidyanath Temple takes you back to the days of mythological events and miracles. The temple too is built around such a famous tale, which says that on being happy with the tough penance of Ravana, Lord Shiva granted him a wish to carry a Shiv Linga to its kingdom where the Lord himself would reside. With the boon, the Lord also laid a condition that Ravana cannot place the Shiv Linga anywhere during the journey else the Linga will be fixed there forever. As this was a big boon, the other gods were nervous and devised a plan so that Ravana would fall prey to the condition. On an emergency, he had to give the Shiv Linga to a Brahmin saint who laid it down on the earth. Ravana returned to find it fixed forever and could not remove after multiple trails. Later, this place was turned into a temple known as the Baidyanath Temple. The temple is built on a single stone and is located in Deogarh. The temple also shelters other gods and goddesses.  Devotees from all over the world visit this temple all through the year and especially during the festive season of “Saawan”.

Betla National Park:

Placed in the Palamau district of Jharkhand, Betla National Park is another great place to check out during a trip. It is one of the first of its kinds to become a tiger reserve. Creatures found at this national park include tiger, elephant, civet, deer, cheetah, antelope, wolf, sambar, owl, rhesus monkey and drongos. The park also has a Mahuadar wolf sanctuary as an additional feature. Visitors can also enjoy elephant rides at the Betla National Park.

Canary Hills:

Canary Hills are located close to the town of Hazaribagh.  The hills offer panoramic views of the town surrounding it.  The place also has a well maintained park where tourists can have a great time. This park has three beautiful lakes. It also has an observation tower.

Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary:

Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary lies at a distance of 10 kilometers from Jamshedpur. The sanctuary stretches till the Dalma Mountain Range. The sanctuary shelters creatures like tigers, barking deer, leopards, sloth bears and porcupines. You will see the creatures in their natural habitat. Visitors will also enjoy being part of activities such as mountaineering and trekking.

Dassam Falls:

Dasam waterfalls are like a treat to eyes and senses.  You would love exploring this part of Jharkhand. Dasam Falls are also known by the name of Dassam Gagh. These natural cascades are from the Kanchi River.  The falls drop from 144 feet of height. The surrounding beauty of the place is worth experiencing.

Deer Park:

Located in Ranchi, the Deer Park is fast catching up as a marvelous tourist spot in Jharkhand. The park initially started with about 15 deer and now has a huge collection of these species. It has well laid gardens, parks and well structured pathways. The Park safari is a major attraction to the tourists.

Hazaribagh National Park:

Nature and wildlife lovers must pay a visit to the beautiful Hazaribagh National Park.  The park rests at 615 m of altitude and over 184 square kilometers. The park shelters a wide range of creatures such as chital, sloth bear, sambar, wild boar, panther and nilgai. It also has watch towers, which are created above the pools.  These are meant to give great views of the creatures who visit the pool to drink water during summers. The national park also has artificial lakes, which are made out of tiny rivers.

Hundru Falls:

Serving as a perfect picnic spot and soothing the senses, ‘Hundru Falls’ is one of the best places to explore during your vacation in Jharkhand. The falls are located on the Ranchi-Purulia Road and attract immediate attention with its beauty. These falls are from the Subarnarekha River. At the base, lies a pool with a surrounding area, which serves as picnic spots.

Jagannathpur Temple:

A replica of the main Jagannathpur Temple in Puri, this is a major tourist attraction in Ranchi.  This temple was built by Barkagarh Jagannathpur Thakur Ani Nath Shahdeo in 1691. The architectural style of this temple resembles that of the main Jagannath Temple in Puri, Orissa. The temple celebrates Rath Yatra in the same way as it is celebrated in Puri every year.

Jonha Falls:

Located at a distance of 40 kilometers from Ranchi, Jonha Falls is a major tourist attraction in the state. To get a perfect view of the fall, you need to descend about 500 steps. Jonha Falls is also known as Gautamdhara, which is named after Lord Gautam Buddha. The fall is neighbored by River Kanchi. The area is surrounded by dense forests.

Maithon Dam:

Maithon Dam is a must-see attraction in Jharkhand. It is controlled by the Damodar Valley Corporation. The Maithon Dam is known for its pristine beauty, which is augmented by the artificial lake. This tourist attraction is located at about 48 kilometers from the town of Dhanbad.

Netarhat:

As a place with resplendent beauty, Netarhat is a well known destination to check out in Jharkhand. This beautiful location is popularly known as Queen of Chotanagpur. Netarhat lies at about 3700 feet high above the sea level. Cool cascading waterfalls, mystic forests and refreshing breeze makes your visit a memorable experience. The British called it ‘Natures Heart’.
